hi, everyone.

how have your holidays been treating you? ups? downs? bad reactions to stress? good reactions to time off or family?

this can be a tumultuous time of year, and it would be great to hear what everyone else has been up to.

wow, it sounds like you guys have a lot to deal with just by SEEING your family (well, his family). i'm glad the two of you came through it with your relationship unscathed.

my holidays went well. dad and step mom drove up from southern california (we live in the central valley)and stayed a few days for an early family christmas. this was our first christmas in a new house, and aside from some unfortunate incidents with close friends around thanksgiving, it's been nice settling in and getting things the way we want them. we had our own christmas, then another with my mom/step-dad/younger sisters, then ANOTHER with her family. my girlfriend and i have been together for around 3 1/2 years, but i met her brother for the first time after christmas when he flew in from south dakota. i think his visit was the hardest part of the season. he's a smelly, selfish alcoholic, and i vacillated between biting my tongue for my own sake and keeping quiet for hers. it was like living with a drunken, dreadlocked 12 year old for a week, and while i was excited to meet him, i'm glad he's gone.
i do feel bad for her, though, because i think this visit has done some irreparable damage to their relationship, and she spent months looking forward to seeing him.
all in all a good holiday that everyone emerged unscathed from.
